Objectives: (i) To make a content analysis of class XI Biology text book through Constructivist approach. (ii)To develop instructional materials for adopting constructivist approach in teaching of Biology. (iii) To experiment the effectiveness of constructivist approach as compared to traditional classroom method. (iv) To study the effect of developed instructional material on reactions of pupil teachers towards teaching and learning of Biology through constructivist approach as compared to traditional approach. (v)To study the effect of instructional material on willingness of pupil teachers to use constructivist approach for biology teaching
In present study a sample of 40 pupil teachers and students of class XI (biology) were selected as a sample. All the pupil teachers were selected from Faculty of Education, Dayalbagh Educational Institute (Deemed University) Dayalbagh, Agra.
General Intelligence Test, Reaction Scale, Willingness Scale and Achievement test.
A quasi-experimental design was used.The data was analysed with the help of mean,S.D and t-test.
The finding of the study are described here as: (i) Lesson plans based on constructivist approach were developed by the researcher. (ii) Teaching by constructivist approach with the help of developed instructional material based on constructivist approach was more effective than the traditional approach .(iii) Orientation through the developed instructional material is more effective than the orientation without the help of instructional material of in improving the reaction of pupil teachers towards the constructivist approach. (iv) The willingness of experimental group towards constructivist approach was higher than that of controlled group i.e. the developed instructional material were effective to improve the willingness of pupil teachers towards the use of constructivist approach in the teaching.
