The objectives of the study were: (1) To find out the Status of Curriculum of Computer in different schools. (2) To find out the Status of Resources and facilities available for Computer Education Curriculum in different schools. (3) To know the Educational level of teachers providing Computer Education in schools. (4) To know the rationality of fees paid by students for Computer Educational. (5) To find out about Examination, Testing and Evaluation done after teaching and find out the validity of the certificates issued. (6) To find out the difficulties encountered in Management of Computer Education.
The hypotheses were: (1) Computer
Education is compulsory at Primary, Secondary and High School level in
schools of Gwalior city. (2) There is no difference in Status of
Computer Education in all Primary schools of Gwalior city. (3) There is
no difference in Status of Computer Education in all Secondary schools
of Gwalior city. (3) There is no difference in Status of Computer
Education in all Higher Secondary schools of Gwalior city. (4) There is
no difference between Computer Education through English medium and
Computer Education through Hindi medium. (5) Computer Education in
schools is expensive.
Sample comprised of 300 students (male/ female), 45 Principals and Computer Teachers and 84 Parents. Random Sampling Technique was used for selection of sample. Investigator used self-prepared Questionnaire, Interview Schedule and Observation Schedule for data collection. The present study is Descriptive in nature.The data were analyzed with the help of percentages.
The findings were: (1) Computer Education is provided only in 6.5% Primary schools 8% Secondary Schools and 18% Higher Secondary Schools. Out of those schools providing Computer Education, only 47% schools provide Computer Education on compulsory bases. Computer Education is optional in 30% schools. In remaining 23% schools Computer Education is compulsory in some classes and optional in some classes. (2) There is no Computer Education in any of the Primary and Secondary Schools. In Private Schools also Curriculum is not same. The Educational qualification, training and experience of teachers are different in different schools. Status of Laboratory is also not same. (3) Curriculum is not same in different Higher Secondary Schools, also. Apart from this, textbooks are not same in different Higher Secondary Schools. There is difference in Educational Qualification, Training and Experience of teachers of all the schools. Status of Laboratory is also not same. (4) At each level there is a difference between Hindi medium Curriculum and English medium Curriculum of Computer Education. English medium schools have modern Curriculum and their Laboratories are also well equipped. There is difference between the fees of English medium schools and Hindi medium schools. (5) The annual fees of the schools providing Computer Education are more than the normal fees structure. Only 36% students belonging to high-income group have more tendency of receiving Computer Education. 80% Teachers, 84% Parents and 65% Students are of the opinion that they are not able to receive Computer Education because of it being very expensive.
